هذا الشكل الزخرفى هائل الحجم يعلو القبة الضخمة لمبنى البريد الرئيسى فى القاهرة.

تأسس المبنى عام 1931 عندما تم نقل المركز الرئيسى لخدمات البريد من الإسكندرية إلى القاهرة. كان المبنى يعرف بالبوستة العمومية أو بمصلحة البريد المصرية. لاحقا تحول الاسم إلى الهيئة العامة للبريد، ثم إلى الهيئة القومية للبريد، ثم إلى البريد المصرى.

يذكر أن خدمات البريد المصري تأسست عام 1865.
